Independence Day, otherwise known as the Fourth of July, is a traditional U.S. patriotic holiday commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence, which occurred on July 4, 1776. In short, it’s a celebration of America’s declared independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain.
But, modern times have caused this trendy American holiday to evolve and conform in a more conventional way. With all of the tragedies that have taken place over the years, (most notably 911, and more recently, the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico) the Fourth of July has become a symbol of unity; the unionizing of Americans from all different ethnicity’s and backgrounds coming together in the face of great tragedy. It truly is one of America’s most meaningful holiday celebrations, and there’s no better place to be this Fourth of July than Pigeon Forge, TN.
Pigeon Forge Tennessee’s 20th Annual Patriot Festival will kick off July 3, 2010 at Patriot Park starting at 1 p.m, with the popular local radio station, WIVK 107.7 and their notorious mascot, “The Frog,” in attendance.
An extraordinary line up of live musical entertainment will keep attendees “rockin their socks off” throughout the day. This year’s lineup will include, Diamond Rio, Steve Azar, Thompson Square, TelluRide, and Jimbo Whaley and Greenbrier.
There will be plenty of delectable foods made available by non-profit organizations, and the kids will fidget in anticipation over the free “Kids Karnival” zone, with bouncing inflatables and games galore to keep them busy.
When the day is done, and night falls, Pigeon Forge’s sky will “come to life” with a marvelous fireworks display. The 20th Annual Patriot Festival is a free event, thanks in part to its co-sponsors, AT&T The Real Yellow Pages, Old Mill Square, WonderWorks Accommodations by Sunset Cottage, Smoky Mountain Jubilee Theater, Papa John’s Pizza , and Food City of Pigeon Forge.
Bring the family, or a close circle of friends, and celebrate one of the most honored holiday traditions in style with a beautiful Pigeon Forge Cabin in the Tennessee mountains.
